#44.935 Bezahlt in Kindle-Shop (Siehe Top 100 Bezahlt in Kindle-Shop)

This book is the second in the "Winter Trilogy" the first being "A Day in December". I've always been drawn to novels done in unusual formats, letters, diaries, etc. so this attracted my attention. Both books published so far deal with an interesting literary format: 4 separate characters, all with goals and issues, over the course of one 24 hour day in Glasgow, Scotland. Both are set in December so Christmas is mentioned but not the focus at all. The book is divided into 2 hour segments and we watch the 4 characters move through their day, almost coming into contact with each other until late in the day when lives begin to merge. In this one, there are 2 women and 2 men whose day we follow. Low is a good writer, humorous, and able to keep you turning the pages to see what comes next. With this one, more than the first, the flaw is not just the amount of coincidence (the nurse, for example, just happens to be another character's niece) , but the fact that characters must accept MAJOR life altering information that changes the way they have lived their lives for decades, in short periods to keep the story moving in the time frame set by the literary concept. which makes the some of those things feel rushed. Her "villains" feel a bit one dimensional too; do these people have NO redeeming qualities? That said, watching them get put in their places is enormously satisfying! Low is good; I've read two so far and have downloaded 2 more; I think you'll enjoy them if you like family drama novels.

I must say that I really enjoyed reading this book . It had me laugh and it had me crying. I hope you enjoy reading it too.

love all the author books but I love in this story the return of characters from different books

I was already a fan of Shari Low’s writing prior to reading Another Day in Winter, but I am now in awe of this amazing author. Her plot development, imagery, and characterization are too real to be true. You hear the voices, see the expressions, and feel all the feels – whether funny, sad, or cringe-worthy. The reason I am reminded of Love, Actually is because of the way that so many people are associated with one another in so many different ways and it all comes crashing together in the course of twenty-four hours. Despite her character descriptions in the beginning, I assure you that there are plenty of surprises the entire time that just adds to the wonder of this book. There are moments that will make you laugh out loud and moments that will have you reaching for Kleenex. There are moments that will have you jumping for joy that God gave you the parents that you have, or you might be laughing and crying along while relating to the horrible parents that appear in this novel. And if anyone out there has a long-lost love that they ever wonder about, then you will absolutely relate to this one.Typically, I like to end reviews with a call to action such as, “if you’re a fan of romance then this one is for you.” However, in this case, I will simply say, this book is for everyone. It is an outstanding novel that should be enjoyed by everyone. Kudos to Shari Low for this brilliant and touching story.

In this latest novel in the Winter Day series, Another Day in December, Low once again transports us to Glasgow, Scotland for one chilly day in winter when four lives will cross bringing closure for some, forgiveness for others, new family, old loves, and friendships that will last a lifetime. The writing is vivid, eloquent, and fluid. The characters are complex, quirky, and authentic. And the plot is a series of engaging, at times humorous subplots that unfold into an amusing, unputdownable story about life, loss, love, familial drama, secrets, misunderstandings, friendship, romance, acceptance, hope, and unconditional love.Overall, Another Day in December is thoughtful, emotive, funny, festive, and endearing and with its rich characterization and beautiful storyline, it’s another stunning example of why Shari Low is one of my favourite authors of all time.
