It's a very practical book, it does not get very technical. It looks more like some lectures notes than a reference manual. It is recommended to follow the examples and completing the exercises while reading the book. For a functional programmer most of the contents are not new, but I liked that it introduces monads directly with examples of interactive programming.As the title suggest, a good book if you want to start coding in Haskell.
New to programming and to Haskell. This book is dense and get's right to the important stuff. The examples are my favorite part of the book. They are meant to be read and reread and picked apart until you understand everything that is going on. The exercises in the book are enlightening, but I prefer to come up with my own by playing around with the examples. Also, if you have training in formal logic, you will love the section on the tautology checker.

This book is a wonderful way to learn Haskell. It is short and concise, but explains the necessary details sufficiently. The order in which the content is presented is just right. Each chapter builds on the previous one. The learning curve is pleasantly steep.The examples bring the learned to the point. The exercises are tricky but solvable. Unfortunately not all solutions are included in the book.The only major criticism is that sometimes syntax is used in the examples that has not yet been explained. This causes unnecessary confusion.All in all the best Haskell book for beginners in functional programming I've read so far.
